usually when a patient has a transplant, they have to take about 15 to 25 pills a day, and the pills cause a lot of complications. and we were able by transplanting a little bit of bone marrow from the donor to make the recipients not need to take the immanent suppression drugs anymore. i was on dialysis for two months prior to my transplant and the transplant happened at northwestern in chicago. robert is from louisville and he heard about the study and really
wanted to have a try being off immanent suppression instead of having to take the drugs for his lifetime. i am living proof of this miracle that has happened to me, someone who gave me a kidney changed my world and now this stem cell study has changed my world as well. an area that we’re really excited too is the audio-immune disorders. it turns out that bone marrow transplants can cure audio-immune disorders including multiple sclerosis or type 1 diabetes and lupus, proncelidys.
there really are a lot of opportunities once you can find a way to make bone marrow transplant safe.
